Durham City has a successful park and ride scheme in place. Maybe the Tall Ships Office could learn some lessons from them? In the first 12 months of the £10 Million scheme, the Park and Ride buses, which operate from three edge-of-town car parks on key arterial routes into the town, carried more than 600,000 passengers.
A TEN MILLION POUND scheme carried 600,000 passengers in twelve months. Hartlepool Tall Ships Team are talking to a couple of Farmers about using some fields to set up a scheme to carry a similar number of people in three days!
